new aesthetic
Sometimes less is more, sometimes less is bored, so should this window display be categorised as "more" or "bored"?
Its Rick Owens store at the Landmark. The window display fits in with the brand's raw edgy design anyway. I somehow feel that the window display no longer serves to arouse pedestrains' interest, neither to showcase the merchandises. It seems like a place for image building and it targets at the non-target consumers...I mean patrons are less aware of the window display, they shop inside and non-target consumers like me wandering outside.
The androgynous, dark and gothic look has garnered quite a cult following in Hong Kong. Brands like RO, Julius, Gareth Pugh etc. all have presence in Hong Kong, and there is also a selected shop opened recently, called "ink" located in CWB specializes in cutting-edge labels.

Lanvin x H&M
23rd November, 11am on Canton Road, I was there. The h&m x Lanvin collection was released sharply on 8am and I was still on my bed suffering from tiredness of last night's work. All I wished was to get a pair of shoes...but I knew that 11am was hopeless. Though I still paid a visit to the shop hoped to find a left behind glasses or may be a bow tie. But when I arrived I realised my thought was too ideal!!!!!
No even one piece of merchandise was there, the whole mens collection sector disappeared! The collabration is so clever, neither Lanvin goes public nor h&m goes luxury, is to create urge and desire!

Surely, Lanvin is not going public, I mean even the h&m collaboration, its for minorities. look at this picture.

Funny window display
I visited to a few malls today.
I found out that retailers are being more and more creative on the window display, with some exaggerate ideas. There was one really interesting example of b+ab, using the hellokitty heads to replace the mannequin.
Although it didn't arouse my interest in making a purchase, but at least it
captured my attention which achieve the original goal of the marketer.

Mall Promotion - Halloween X Fashion
This is a mall promotion introduced by the Langham Place in Mongkok. The mall is cooperating with the Ocean Park, showing fashion pieces according to the theme of Halloween. The special thing is visitors can take part in the event, by borrowing and dressing up in costumes provided by the venue.

Michael Lau’s HAPPY CRAZY X’MAS
An eye-catching exhibition is now showing in Time Square, Causeway Bay.
It showcases the creative work of the famous urban contemporary artist, Michael Lau.
Urban culture such as skateboards, spray cans and toys from the classics are displayed. I particularly like the huge spray cans. The "spray" is "solidified" in cute shapes in sharp colours contrasting with each other. I can feel the "wow" effect when I walk pass Time Square.
Cheerful decoration can also be seen in the escalator area.
Colourlful ornaments, dangling lamps and other installations make the short travelling journey on the escalator a happy time.
Pay a visit to this exhibition to receive the playful X’mas gift from Time Square and Michael Lau!
When: 16th to December 26th
Where: Times Square, ground floor, CWB, Hong Kong
