JOYCE 40th Anniversary Exhibition - A JOURNEY IN FASHION

At the very begining, I didn't really have an urge to visit. One day, I walked pass the JOYCE store in Tsim Sha Tsui and saw the message on the window. I got the urge - why is Hong Kong Museum of Medical Sciences?

This event marks the first time that the museum has been used for an international fashion event.
To my surprise, the ancient building matches the theme of the exhibition quite well, which enhanced the ambience of JOYCE 40th Anniversary exhibition.

A Journey in Fashion is a unique celebration of JOYCE's heritage, fashion history and the future.
The exhibition fuses fashion, art and technology which give visitors an multi-sensory experience.

Video shows interviews with the world's famous fashion designers such as Romeo Gigli, Alber Elbaz and the ex-Joyce magazine editor Diane Pernet.

Emilio Pucci is being interviewed currently shown on the screen.

JOYCE has collaborated with renowned DJ Bob Sinclair on a limited edition compilation, featuring selected tracks mixed exclusively for JOYCE as to mark the celebration. Three music players are hanging on the wall and visitors can enjoy over 10 pieces of music there. I have listened to a couple pieces. They are pop and you can tell they are tailor-made!

The gallery displays the show pieces from a number of brands.

In this exhibition, designers have selected over 50 archive looks. It's really worth a visit because they are presented for the first time in Asia.

The "oldest" piece of design is presented by Versace which was created in A/W 1980.
Not only the archive looks amazed me, but also the impressive design of backdrops and platforms.

This is another showroom located on the second floor. 14 designer outfits are shown there.

The one on the left hand side is the most attention drawing one. Patch works and torn details from head to toe are the main elements of the design. It was presented by Undercover in S/S 2003.

This is another showroom located on the second floor which is the finale. It's like a show with the aid of special lighting and background music. The designer pieces would be illuminated one by one in pace with the rhythm of the soft background music. It makes the display more lively.

The lighting is amazing! But you know what, it's just done by a projector.

The room is dark at the beginning and then all 7 show pieces are illuminated by the end of the show. It's like the scene of curtain call!

Innovative technology is one of the important elements in this exhibition. The cell division-like images are actually the "barcodes" representing different designers.

When you put those cards on the screen table, details of designers would shown on the screen as the screen sense the "barcodes" through light reflection.

You can touch the screen and select the topic you want to further explore.

Similar technology applied here as well. The code on this page is sensed and the corresponding video would be played instantly. Speech from Andrew Keith, President of JOYCE is showing.

Special art collaboration projects with artists.
This is the end of the exhibition and you can shop for souvenirs there!

Christmas sphere

Christmas tree is not the only decoration nowadays. There are many eye catching and playful decorations in this christmas.

I can see many spheres everywhere in the malls, restaurants, streets, etc.

Maybe the sphere represent the shape of snowballs, and unity, therefore, it has become a favourite type of decorations to Hong Kong people.

1881 Heritage -Carousel-successful Christmas promotion!

The flying horse as a christmas decoration in 1881 Heritage this year attract a lot of tourists, graduated students and couples come and visit it, taking photo of it .

I am the one who be attracted to here too :)

It may be the check-point where people must visit this year too (just a joke ^^)

Nevertheless, It is really a great place to take photo here and  the design of the decoration, especially the gear mix and match with the clocks with the lightbulb together is wonderful and attractive enough for people to stop and pay attention to it.

it seems not outstanding in daytime, but its become glamourous at night. The color changes regularly and the passengers passed by are all attracted to enter 1881 .

See! The color has changed from purple to green :)
I think it is really successful in promoting the colorful Christmas and the 1881 Heritage itself as you can see the word on top of the Carousel while increasing the inflow of passenger at the same time !!!!

The color changed again :) From green to orange this time :) It is really awesome !!

And i am happy to see such a large flying horse moving around with the psychedelic neon lighting, and there is a christmas tree nearby , which also present in the same mood, with the  neon light color and same intensive lighting ,therefore a comprehensive picture is formed and it is really beautiful !!!!!
It is worthy to spend time to visit such a classic yet a bit modern decoration at this christmas :)

Gaudi Golden Christmas --- An Artistic Christmas!!

Christmas nowadays is not only romantic, but also artistic!
When I walked into K11 shopping mall, the Golden Tower decoration totally attracted me! Its design is based on renowned Spanish architect - Gaudi 's gothic and irregular architectures. The mosaic decoration makes the Christmas elements such as doves, Christmas trees and stars inside the Golden Tower become artistic works.
K11 successfully transfers a new and artistic Christmas to me. If you are bored with the white Christmas, why don't you go to K11 to enjoy a golden Christmas?

H&M adv is always crazy!!

Remeber when H&M firstly introduced to hk, it's MADONNA collection "M" hitting the streets and some major MTR stations. It successfully aroused lots interest and noise.
Public wondered what H&M is and why it can corporate with superstar MADONNA but with unexpected low prices.

H&M keeps its tradition---investing lots on adv campaign, occuping all walls of Hong Kong MTR station, aiming to remind puclic that its time to enjoy shopping in H&M with low prices again.

H&M is so clever to put adv on HK MTR station ignoring the cost, as the traffic flow here is absolutely high!!

The adv seems asking you: X'mas is coming soon, are you looking for garments for any occasions like parties, datings and gatherings? Let's visit H&M~

Christmas Is All Around

I feel it in my fingers,I feel it in my toes,Christmas is all around me...

everywhere is decorated with the trees the bling bling balls and the red color. inevitably, the big shopping malls are engaged in this activity, anyhow, this might be one of the few ways for big shopping malls in HK to differentiate and personalise themself, only if their decoration is unique enough, otherwise, they will become more the same.

The Elements shopping center is now exhibiting some paper artworks from Ingrid Siliakus, a world famous Dutch paper architect. The exhibition is not very christmas traditionally, no Santa no reindeers but the paper artworks are spectacular, I always think that christmas cards should look more interesting like this.

on the way home, fellows in HK are very rare to dress in a matching palette, fashion has been women's patent for a long long time. today, some males in HK do not even know how to select the right size of clothing for themself...so sad

"Run! Don’t walk!”, Lane Crawford's 160th Anniversary Celebration

When passing through Lane Crawford in Tsim Sha Tsui, I’m curious about the tiny booth that located near the entrance. There is a big contrast between the booth banner in Chinese and the store atmosphere. As you can see from this photo, the booth is really funny and interesting. I did not hesitate to enter the store immediately and wanted to find out what it is. Actually, products from Lacoste, Vans, Lee and so on are included in this booth.

This second artwork is showing on another entrance.

Lane Crawford has collaborated with some of the city’s most creative talents to reinvent Hong Kong’s heritage and traditions. Customers can enjoy uniquely transformed spaces at Lane Crawford stores. The artworks inside Lane Crawford aimed to remind the viewers to rethink those traditions in Hong Kong.

Those artworks are just part of Lane Crawford's 160th anniversary celebration. I highly recommend you guys to visit the stores, to have a look or participate in this valuable celebration.
